I have rung, if that's what you would call it, a few times since then: ringing outings where I accompany my ringer wife, special occasions like the 2012 London Olympics, and when visiting the in-laws; even when we've been in my native town of Boston, Lincolnshire at Christmas. But that's it... only really rounds and call changes these days, except for the Olympics, which involved "firing"!

So, why am I here? Well, as I already mentioned, my wife rings, and my previous learning (I gave up having rung Stedman inside once) means I can just about keep up with general ringing conversation in the pub and give an introduction of history and theory to a non-ringer who is interested. In fact I originally asked for an account because of my interest in folk music. I saw that the page on [[Ringing Songs]] was a bit basic, and arguably rather rough, so I volunteered to have a go at tidying it up. I've ended up spreading my wings a little. Hi,

I'm Simon Meeds. I can't really claim to be a ringer. I learnt over a few years in the 1990s and gave up around 2001.

I saw that the page on Ringing Songs was a bit basic, and arguably rather rough, so I volunteered to have a go at tidying it up. I've ended up spreading my wings a little.

In case anyone's interested, here are some other places you can find me - or my influence:
