- When I set the page up, the idea was to list people that ringers would recognise as ringers so that when the pub perennial of 'has anyone famous ever rung' came up it would be possible to give a sensible answer. So I don't really see that someone chiming a bell once really counts. BUt this is a wiki and it don't belong to me... I remember seeing a video of Deborah Harry ringing, probably just backstroke, I think at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. I can't find it just now but maybe someone will be able to. Smeeds (talk) 15:01, 30 July 2016 (UTC)
I have found another reference to someone ringing at Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin. It is Jimmy Rip though it is not clear whether he rang backstroke, chimed or what. It's certainly referenced here but I don't know whether it should fit into the first category - it doesn't fit in the second. Is the intention of the first category to be "The following are people that members of the general public might have heard of who are known to have rung" ... even if only once?
