The [[Main Page|Changeringing Wiki]] was established and hosted in August 2008 by Graham John to supersede the earlier [http://www.bellringers.org/ringwiki/ RingWiki] established and hosted by John Camp. The reason for the change was purely to take advantage of the superior functionality and presentation features offered by the [http://www.mediawiki.org/ MediaWiki] software used by the [[Main Page| Changeringing Wiki]], [http://www.wikipedia.com/ Wikipedia] and many others, over the [http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/ PhpWiki] software used by [http://www.bellringers.org/ringwiki/ RingWiki]. The ability to add discussion to individual pages was also thought to be a very useful feature, particularly where there is a degree of debate on particular aspects of the content.

The Changeringing Wiki was established and hosted in August 2008 by Graham John to supersede the earlier RingWiki established and hosted by John Camp. The reason for the change was purely to take advantage of the superior functionality and presentation features offered by the MediaWiki software used by the Changeringing Wiki, Wikipedia and many others, over the PhpWiki software used by RingWiki. It is hoped that by presenting the information more attractively, this Wiki will become more accessible to ringers and researchers generally, and the improved functionality will encourage more editors of articles to come forward and increase the information available. The ability to add discussion to individual pages was also thought to be a very useful feature, particularly where there is a degree of debate on particular aspects of the content.
